i like the labels on the menus.
i just want a “tools” menu again that’s all :)
that would get rid of the hierarchical menus.
I still use the old menus at home.
I’m thinking of making it a preference, so you can switch between menu styles.
...I should go back to something closer to the old menus?
that way i can fit more help topics in there
also would love this to be tabbed so i can put a few different types of help in there:beginner has tons and tons of tooltips
intermediate is like the current userbase
you start as a beginner then auto-upgrade yourself as you get the hang of it
you pay to upgrade to expert (no ads, publish mode etc)
i really want to know what users are using it most
i really want users to feel so cool seeing themselves ring up new notes
i really want a leaderboard
so we have A+ and A- which is good
but what about new users coming into the space... who might never have seen a metanotes space before?
i’d like the ability to just make the text in a given note permanently larger or smaller via the contextual menu.
would this work to overcome the pain of the second session?
my second session of notetaking on this space could begin by my “creating a new layer”.
this layer would be a blank sheet that overlaid the first session’s notespace.
This is going to refer to this scenario:
they should be able to set whether their actions are posted to their feeds or not.
this permissions level should be persistent – that is to say, if i am “cloaked”, everything i do is cloaked even if i move to another space, login and logout a month later, etc.
but open should be the default because we want an open culture, and we want people to generate these rss feed items so we can start pushing out changes into services like friendfeed and socialthing.
this implies that there is a very useful thing that our social network can actually do.
these should appear in the bottom left menu.
these should be clickable so you will zoop to the note your friend manipulated if you click it, thus enhancing the likelihood of synchronicity.
ok, this is a few days after the last bunch of notes created.
here is a psychological profile of what is going on:
this way, the more active circles percolate to the top, upping the odds of synchronous presence on a space.
to me, they are the first thing i want you to see.
to you, they are after all what is new. you don’t mind working backwards from newest to oldest in order to comprehend the whole story, because that’s how blogs work anyway.
you should be able to tag notes with a priority (like 1,2,3,4,5) and sort notes by priority
a user is a subscriber to a space the second they add a note to it. they can also just choose to subscribe to a space.
this is obvious.
it’s a note-creation machine.
there are going to be a lot of notes.
the note chat stuff is ADDICTIVE too.
you want to fill up many layers over time within one space.
as a user you only see one layer at a time.
but all of the notes are in that space, and you can easily swap between sheets.
the layers can be:this makes the assumption that you would have intelligence within the notes that said “you, username, have not yet seen this particular note.”
what do you hate about them?
what did you like about the old menus?
when you reply to a note>
and in my dreams “view as presentation” which would fill up the entire screen (akin to “the widget”) with a prev/next interface
also – the title colors are screwed up :P
traceym75 to the heroes ! thanks :)
a hero-adding interface could be created so we could offload this as an ongoing for you ! :)
we should spec this out together sometime when you come over!
In my dreams, you’d see some kind of a flag in that menu item when someone has posted new notes in your inbox.
i need to leave entire spaces for other people.
of course they can delete them.
these spaces should also appear in MY metaspace too of course.
this basically means that users act like circles in this way also – that is to say, “create a space” should have an option set – “in emery’s metaspace” or “in my metaspace”. ask me if this doesn’t make sense.
people want to know that when they leave a note, it’s going to be there…. only the space creator and the note creator can delete a note.
however i believe anyone should be able to move, resize, or windowshade a note.
just not delete it.
which should obviously be a contextual menu item.
at any rate.
if a note is someone else’s, you can’t edit it. (this is in the future, after you’ve got locking down.)
so.
the tooltip when you hover over the note shouldn’t say Double-Click To Edit.
instead,
as you earlier mentioned, of course this would be great because then you could see the notes you have placed elsewhere.
a div which pops up in the screen fast, so there’s no more back and forthing to the metaspace and it’s always ready at hand.
I love the idea of kudos. I know it’s silly, but I always appreciate it when people think enough of something I write or post to give them to me. :)
I really like that idea. I feel like my space is getting so big that it’s difficult to find what even I want to see… I can’t imagine what navigating it is like to others.
...but I still don’t understand the doorbell? I don’t think I’ve ever noticed it when I’ve been on, and I’ve had ongoing note conversations going with someone.
right in the create space wizard
also maybe redirect errors somewhere cooler?
also change password
you should be able to enter your email in and then have your password emailed to you
you can see all the notes in all the spaces as a timeline extending backwards
that would be so choice
or at least some kind of a space-loggy thing
maybe like the pbwiki sidebar
is that possible? that was a cute feature.
I wish there were a way you could “acknowledge” each of these notes.
I wish each of these notes were tied to, like, some kind of scheduler. Like if a due date were assigned a countdown clock would be ticking…. although a bit too ominous perhaps
there should be, or else i’m sort of lost.
beppu’s spaces maybe should be the name of that second menu option if you’re not in your own space
or the spaces menu is always you, but you get an extra beppu’s spaces menu item when you’re in otherspace.
if the subject is blank and the body is blank then we have a problem
an alert when this condition exists would decrease the likelihood of this problem.
ideally the note “starts over” and the alert prompts them to enter a subject line, hit return, then enter the body.
“you did it wrong, try it again” is the attitude
there is TOO MUCH INFORMATION on this space.
first, imagine if these notes were each tiny emails and how hard THAT would be to track. you’ve already helped the world a bunch just with this.
still, the question remains: what are we going to do about the angst you feel at seeing so many notes???
find the light blue twitterpated notes like this one – scroll far to the south. you will find an empathetic voice to discuss this rationally and calmly :)
