The tourist attractions in Sarikei are a mixture of agricultural and ecological tourism destinations. The city is considered the administrative division of the state of Sarawak. It is a huge bustling riverside town and doubles up as a transit point for the Pan Borneo highway and the mighty Rejang River. It is also an important agricultural center and is known for its sweet pineapples and pepper products. During my stay in Sarikei, I was lodged at the Oriental hotel and the experience here was quite wonderful. On my check out day, the staff recommended me to travel to Bintulu by Bus instead of train, as it would be quite faster and easier. Bintulu is another beautiful city located in Sarawak, which is to the East of Malaysia. It is about 205 kms away from Miri and 215 kms away from Sibu. If you are travelling along with your family, Bintulu serves as one of the best places for a vacationing retreat. It is one of the most rapidly developing cities of Malaysia and has the highest number of attractions. Make sure to visit the Similajau National Park, Sarawak Agricultural Park and the Temasya Beach. The National Park possesses one of the most beautiful beaches of Malaysia where you can stroll alongside the golden sandy beaches. I found Bintulu to be a perfect getaway from the concrete jungle and the hustle and bustle of the city. There are only two operators plying on the route between the two cities and the duration of the journey is about 5 hours. Although there is no express bus option but the duration of the journey is still quite less compared to a train.

The two operators plying on this route are Bus Asia Biaramas and Bintang Jaya. There are six buses plying throughout the day. Surprisingly Bus Asia Biaramas starts operating in the dead of the night. There are buses starting from 1:30 am followed by 3:30 am, 2:30 pm, 4:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 11:15 pm. The cost of the tickets are fixed at SGD38 for all six buses. I chose to travel by Bus Asia Biaramas, as it was the only operator plying in the night. Another Operator was Bintang Jaya Express, which had only one bus plying throughout the entire day. They had executive coaches available for booking and the bus departed at about 4:30 pm in the afternoon. There are 41 seats in a single bus and the cost of the ticket is about SGD29. Both the operators take a halt for a short 20 to 30 minutes break after about two and a half hours for refreshments. The seats of Bintang Jaya are a little luxurious as it was an executive coach. It had plenty of legroom and elbow space and all the seats were equipped with LED screen, charging ports and bottle holders.
