WIX is advertising on NPR
- While we were dormant, Wix was created
- I recall them mobile first
- I think they are going for "new geocities"
- They are actually a stock on the market now! good for them $WIX
- Just heard a radio ad on NPR for them advertising 50million users (probably all free)
- What makes things like that tick? Advertising?
- What is their business model?
- I mean didn't Tumblr go nowhere money wise?
- It seems to me only WordPress actually makes money on blogging... and I am not quite sure how they do so, or how much
- Basically, Basecamp and WordPress and SalesForce and Evernote are both popular-ish and make actual money...
- So what is Wix going to do?
No need to wait for features coding to launch. It's just that things that are deep-infrastructural must be done before you get others on here.
Decoupling launch from spex
I think it might be fun to build the platform as people are using it rather than fully polished because it's getting very useful already and every new feature is a little bit of fun to announce and get PR etc.
Get them asking a question fast
What if a blank space with a QUESTION note in which the cursor is blinking is all a site visitor sees?
I mean we can have a few notes in there for guidance too but you know what I mean, it's so zen, you just start by typing in a question and brainstorming flows naturally from there....
I believe QUESTION goes viral.
I'm already absolutely loving that... This is the first space I created with QUESTION as the origin note, it's awesome!!!
MINIMUM VIABLE HOME PAGE
Maybe the User Onboarding experience is all we need to take care of to beta launch now...
GOOGLE - zen approach
Google with its one big search prompt as the theme is my favorite zen user onboarding.
We can launch after...
- Circles and hashtags work.
- User summoning and space sharing work.
- Time Log is back up.
- Home page is clean.
- New user onboarding is good.
- Twitter, FB and G+ (linkedin too?) login is possible.
Who makes money off a publishing tool type thing?
- Basecamp
- WordPress
- Evernote
- Salesforce (obviously i'm stretching the definition)
QUESTION
When will we be able to launch this and watch a billion users sign up right away?

Is Domain Redirecting The Quickest Path?
Assuming it is feasible....
What if you could
redirect a domain into a specific space?
As long as
we serve ads unless you upgrade
That could really WORK !!!
